Higher or no limits on daily lessons
Hi - I’ve just started using NativShark. I studied Japanese and lived in Japan for a few years, so I want to quickly move through the intro sections as a good refresher. The system now limits me to 1 lesson a day. I think there should a feature for students who are refreshing their memories to power through lessons on an unlimited way. If I’m limited to 1 lesson per day, then my review and catch-up are going to take much too long to be useful for me. I like what you’ve done a lot, I just want to be able to go through many lessons much, much faster than the system now permits.
Collapsible sections on My journey page
After my daily learning, I like to check what will be next day's lessons. But every day it became more tiring to roll down to the next lessons. It would be nice, if I can just collapse sections (e.g.: milestones and phases) on My journey phase.
Link between lessons
Would it be possible to add links between lessons? For instance in the attached image a lesson about のに is mentioned, but there is no way to go to that lesson or know which lesson is refer to, for further reading.
Level Check Mode
Master thread for "need a better way to onboard those of us who know some Japanese" and quiz / testing related feature requests. Internally our discussions around this area have evolved into a feature we're calling "Level Check Mode". It would cover placement, as well as any testing related to a given milestone etc should we implement such a feature.
Custom vocab synonyms
Hi, I would like to be able to add synonyms to vocab and kanji. Especially kanji, as the nativshark translation often differs from eg. wanikani, which introduces an element of cognitive dissonance. Also, I know that people use synonyms to add translations in their own native language.
Faster sign in with two-factor authentication
I see that you have decided the the two-factor authentication is a priority since you are requiring it for every login. In that case it would be much faster to use the model of the Slack magic login link. Don’t try a password for the login screen, just an email Receive an email that has a link to open the site and already be logged in That’s it There is no reason to require a password if you have to check your email anyway. And there is no reason to have to copy and paste a code when it should just be a link. If you really are adamant that we need a password and email them at least consider implementing the link functionality to login directly from the email. Every time I have to log in to the site I feel like I’m wasting my time.
Thicker kanji strokes
Student request from support: "The animated kanji strokes in my lessons are so thin, I almost didn't know they were there. And even after I noticed them, I have to squint really hard just to be able to perceive them. Would you mind making the strokes thicker?"
Blur out english translation in all lessons
I would like all the english translations to be blurred out to reveal on hover. When I have already learned a vocab word or kanji seeing it in a subsequent lesson is a great way to practice remembering but immediately below the word is the english translation. Even if I just see it out of the corner of my eye it prevents me from actually testing my recall. Maybe it could be a setting for each user for people who like the translation.
Add sitemap to logged in experience
When we're logged into NativShark we become unable to (easily) access the marketing pages which are presented when not logged in. This makes it very difficult to do things like find the NativShark shop or if you want to link a friend to a specific marketing page, like /process. The only way to do that now is to log out or open a private window. Could you consider adding a sitemap of sorts to the footer of the logged in experience to easily navigate to these pages? Or in the context menu or something.
